OBEDIENCE BEGATS MATURITY

“The world is unprincipled. It’s dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn’t fight fair. But we don’t live or fight our battles that way — never have and never will.

The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture.

We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies,  tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ.

Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity. “2 Cor 10:3-6

Since the beginning of this month, the Lord has been gracious tobring our way the theme: Total Obedience.

This cannot be overlooked  if we desire a fellowship with the Father (1 John 1:3). Our walk with the Father only becomes true when we are willing to listen to him while he speaks (1 Sam 3:10), carry out instructions as it comes (Gen. 12:2) and the innate attentiveness for his pruning at his feet (Luke 10:39a).

For every bible character that keyed into this, grew in knowledge of Christ as well as became spiritually upright. The revelation of Christ only becomes possible when we are constantly doing the Father’s bidding.  Our Lord God is not interested in the number of times you arrived fellowship first neither is he interested in the best of robes you adorn every service day.

He IS KEENLY INTERESTED IN SOULS WHO ARE SOLELY YIELDED TO HIM. The father will require only those willing to go through him cause he is the way, truth and life. He shows the path (John 14;6) , teaches in love (Heb 12:6)  and disseminates life in abundance (John 10:10).

This world is unprincipled, so says Apostle Paul. I strongly believe it. The world we live in is full of those who want to bring others down to excel.

Let me digress a bit. For any careful observer of Nigeria politics, you will agree that the current politicking towards the appointment of ministers for the Federal Government has become very dirty. There have been claims, counter-claims, character assassination and piggish fights on every front.  That is the world system.

But the system we operate in is that of the Spirit which daily requires our pruning by the horticulturist, breaking by those at the quarrying site and incubation by the master incubator, CHRIST.

When this takes place, maturity in things of the SPIRIT becomes inevitable.  Samuel was naïve. He couldn’t distinguish the voice of the priest from the Father. However, the moment he got the rhema, he didn’t look back. When the voice called him again, hear his response: “

Then God came and stood before him exactly as before, calling out, “Samuel! Samuel!”

Samuel answered, “Speak. I’m your servant, ready to listen.”

Samuel was one who had been in the house of the Lord for a while but was unable to hear clearly from the Lord. He refused to stay at that level. So, he sought for help. Most times we are very quick to continue in our deceit in church. Most times, we want to keep talking, exhorting and showing dint of braggadocio in church, on the pulpit and while speaking to fellow believers.

Most believers see the church as a dumpsite to pour what the Father taught them in their personal quiet time. That is pure deception. No wonder you will hear something like: “While I was having my quiet time” talk.  Can we leave out such?  The Father will require we do more of listening than talking.  Can we come to a level where we will always seek to know more.  Until we come to the level of helplessness, God will never help. Samuel sought help and he got.

According to Brother James this should be our guide: “Dear friends: Lead with your ears, follow up with your tongue, and let anger straggle along in the rear” (James 1:19-20).

Abraham’s walk with sky-rocketed the moment he took out of his comfort zone to an unknown destination (Gen 12:2). From then onwards, he began experiencing the dealings of the Father.

These made him mature in Christ, earned respect from God and men. No wonder, he would not let pride set in but sought for peace between him and his nephew, Lot (Gen. 13:8). However, most of us still live in the era of pride. The place of obedience dispels self, pride and dispute.

Martha was the busy-bee. Mary was the seeker of truth, way and life. When this two collided, we came to understand that Mary’s occupation was superior(Luke 10:42). Enough of running round the church to please the president, executives and pretend to be spiritual in the eyes of fellowship members.  Only by this can we attain maturity in Christ.

Welcome, Our Alumni Body Convener

It is a privilege to have in our midst our dogged, rugged and dynamic Alumni Body Convener, Pastor Timilehin Odeyale.

Having served as a prayer co-ordinator and president of this fellowship at some point, indeed he has been instrumental to where FSF UNILAG is today.

Welcome sir!

My predecessor’s predecessor.
