“If we say we have fellowship with him, yet at the same time live in the darkness, we are lying both in our words and actions.”
Hello Friends! I come to you not in excellency, prowess and panache of writing but as led by His Spirit. I write not as of my own wisdom but the hidden wisdom of God.
For some weeks, the Holy Spirit has taken us through the path every Christian must daily follow in his walk with God-FELLOWSHIP WITH THE FATHER. It is likely that we take this for granted because of its frequency to our ears this month. It is possible we have turned it to the usual catchphrase as that which accompanies TV commercials and radio jingles.
This is a call unto closer walk with God. This was how it was from the beginning (my bible tells me so) until “their eyes were opened” Gen 37. Man lost the place of fellowship with the father until the one who remains blameless perfected the plan of redemption back to God.
Yet, we still give in to opening of the eyes. We want to talk the way the world talks and still maintain a robust bond with the Father. Despite a perceived glittering nature of this world, what it got to offer still remains- “…lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life” 1John 215 . However, we walk into darkness majestically without batting an eyelid. He is the Father of Light which we claim to serve. However, we fail to let that light shine through us.
His fellowship with the Father was a tight one. He got to the realm of receiving what the future had waiting for him. They hated him, chastised him, betrayed him and sold him. Yet, he kept the faith. His light shone with immediate alacrity everywhere he settled-Matt 516 Even when she tried to mess his fellowship with the Father, the bible records that “he fled” Gen 3913 .
What about the father of the wisest man ever to live? His fellowship knew no bounds. “unto thee do I lift up my soul”-Ps 251, “As the deer longs for a stream of cool water, so I long for you, God”-Ps 421 –indeed his fellowship stemmed from the desire to know more of Him every passing moment. No wonder he is the man referred to be after God’s own heart. Such isn’t attained from a distant relationship. It is reached through a constant, close, communal, and consecrated companionship.
Why Fellowship with the Father?
-God’s Shadow: Fellowship guarantees protection. A habitat is sure under HIS shadow because “he that touches you, touches the apple of his eye” Zech. 28 .
– Walk in the light: Light signifies his presence. It typifies a sold out life. Light stands out such as the bearer of light stands out. “but let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation” 1 Thess. 58 .
–Help:. Fellowship with the father surely advances our spiritual maturity. With such advancement of maturity we are able to help others attain spiritual maturity.
“You can’t help someone get up a hill without getting closer to the top yourself”-Norman Schwarzkopf
This is a conscious effort in ensuring a relationship is maintained and nurtured with Christ. But how can we do this without daily search? How well do we study HIS word? how much of his word have we got? “Thy word have I hid in my heart so that I may not sin against thee” Ps 11911
Even as we further in this personal race, “see that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise. Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is” Eph 515-17
